Voice recording software on windows vista?

I sing and I have a microphone and want to record, I have Windows Vista, but where (EXACTLY) can i go on my PC to record my voice straight from my mic instead of having to download some freeware onto my pc? (By the way don't just say windows movie maker- say EXACTLY where in the program?) Thanks!
