Color of skin determining factor?

I am currently employed but steadily looking for an additional job as I need more money especially with the holidays and all. The job market here in Florida is almost nonexistent, but today I actually got a call back and went to the place. When I got there, all I had to do was write down my name, phone number, address, and my RACE. The employees were all African American and one single Caucasian. Why would this be one of the top things they would need to know to consider my employment???
